Prof. Mika Sillanpää is the head of the laboratory of Green Chemistry at the Lappeenranta University of Technology. His research work centers on chemical treatment in environmental engineering and environmental monitoring and analysis. More specifically, he is working extensively with adsorption, photocatalysis, electrochemical treatment and advanced oxidation processes as well as ion mobility spectrometry, chromatographic methods, electrochemical sensor development and real-time monitoring. He has published over 500 articles in reputable journals and international conference proceedings. Prof. Sillanpää is engaged in synergistic collaboration with over 50 research partners from the world’s leading laboratories in six continents. His papers have been published in journals such as Environmental Science & Technology, Journal of Chromatography A, Environment International, Journal of Hazardous Materials, Bioresource Technology, Advances in Colloid and Interface Science, Electrochemistry Communications, Biosensors & Bioelectronics, Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, Mass Spectrometry Reviews and Critical Reviews in Environmental Science & Technology (all having impact factor >4). His publications Have an h-index of 58 and have been cited over 15800 times. Two of his publications are among 0.5% top-cited publications in the history of the corresponding journal (journals Chemosphere and Science of the Total Environment). Many of his scientific articles have been listed as hottest papers of the journal or even the entire research field (chemical engineering and environmental science).
